Based on the theme of the ReONS 2026, the objectives of the symposium are:
The Research Officers National Symposium (ReONS) 2026 marks the third chapter of a growing tradition that began in 2022, bringing together research officers from across Malaysia for a meaningful exchange of ideas, experiences, and inspiration. This year's theme, "Frontiers of Research: Connecting Minds, Creating Impact", is all about sparking collaboration and making research matter—within our communities and beyond.
For the first time, the symposium opens its doors to science officers and postgraduate researchers from all Malaysian Research Universities, expanding the conversation and enriching the experience with fresh perspectives and emerging voices.
ReONS 2026 isn't just about presenting findings; it's about building bridges. Whether you're exploring new technologies, tackling social challenges, or simply curious about what others are working on, this event offers a space to connect with fellow researchers who share your passion for discovery and progress.
Expect lively discussions, hands-on workshops, and stories that remind us why research is more than just data—it's about people, purpose, and the power to make a difference.
The Malaysian University Research Officer Society (MROS) is a society registered with the Registry of Societies Malaysia that serves as a platform for research officers in Malaysian universities to connect, share best practices, and advance their professional capabilities.
MROS community comprises research officers from Malaysian research universities.

RM100We are pleased to invite research officers, science officers, and postgraduate students to submit abstracts for Oral, Poster and Innovation Presentations at the 3rd Research Officers National Symposium 2026. This symposium serves as a dynamic platform for sharing innovative findings, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and translating research into meaningful societal impact.
ReONS 2026 highlights the role of several areas as follows:
The Oral Presentation Track provides presenters with a platform to present completed or ongoing research with significant findings or impact; share methodologies, analytical approaches, and translational outcomes; highlight innovative solutions, case studies, or applied research advancements; engage with a wide academic and professional audience through scholarly discussion; and build networks for interdisciplinary collaboration and future research initiatives.
Accepted oral presenters will be allocated a 15-minute presentation slot, followed by a brief Q&A session.
The Poster Session offers an opportunity to present late-breaking findings, exploratory studies, and pilot projects; share technical innovations, datasets, and methodological advancements; showcase student-led or collaborative research initiatives; engage directly with multidisciplinary experts for feedback and networking; and foster collaborations aligned with national and global research priorities.
Accepted posters will be displayed throughout the symposium, including a dedicated engagement session with reviewers, industry partners, and fellow researchers.
The ReONS 2026 Innovation Competition aims to provide a forum for research officers, science officers, and postgraduate students to share their groundbreaking research, innovative solutions, and ideas with a wider audience. It's a platform designed to showcase innovative research and ideas in various fields, build networks with peers and experts, enhance your presentation and communication skills, and provide opportunities for collaboration and funding.
Teams with accepted innovation will be provided with a standard booth and will be responsible for preparing and managing their own displays and demonstrations.

The First Research Officers National Symposium (ReONS 2022), jointly organised by Malaysia's five Research Universities and hosted by Universiti Putra Malaysia, carried the theme “Empowering and Inspiring Research Officer from Malaysia Research Universities as Renowned Scientist.” The event covered diverse fields—Applied Science, Pure Science, Engineering, Social Science, Medical and Veterinary, IT and Computer Science, and Research Management—through about 70 abstracts in 10 thematic sessions. It drew 177 participants and laid the groundwork for future collaborations.
The Second Symposium was held on 19 and 20th November 2024 at Universiti Malaya as a continuity of ReONS 2022 to provide a collaborative platform for Malaysians research officers to showcase their research efforts and bring it to the community via translational research and commercialization.
